Hi there,
The vast plains and mountains in the centre of the USA have always fascinated me. In my many visits to the USA I flew over many areas like this but alas did not have much time to vist them in person.
Recently a Photographer and fellow Blogger, Mitch Zeissler, published this great photograph of Mount Calowahcan in Montana.

Mitch has kindly allowed me to “borrow” his photo as the subject of this Post, one of a series on “Places that I would really like to Visit” . Thanks Mitch!

I love your painting … maybe even more than Mitch’s photo … no offense to him! I did visit his website and his photos ARE lovely! Enjoyed the Thanksgiving post especially. Thanks for sharing both! I have no doubt that you will one day get to Montana! : ) On another note, a friend and I are thinking of visiting Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast of England next year. Have you been there, and would you have any advice for us? Hope you had a wonderful autumn!

Thanks so much for your lovely blog, Dean and I always enjoy your art and your commentary. It takes us to places we have and have not been.
Dean asked me to relay we would be interested in seeing the middle of our U.S. should you deem a visit here and wouldn’t mind traveling companions. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to gorgeous Oregon this past September and it whetted our appetite to see more of this country.
Our Thanksgiving, my favourite holiday, was most enjoyable; we hosted 20 of our family for turkey dinner — a big, juicy 28 pounder! The house is decorated now for Christmas before we go off to Florida next week, for one week only. Are you and Yvonne celebrating in the U.K?
We can’t wait to see you again, the anticipation is lovely.

Hello Brian,
While I love Mitch’s photo (I am heavily into pencil and graphite, etc these days so the black and white is very appealing at the moment) I think your painting is such a wonderful example of how colour brings a new and different energy to the same subject matter. There is a lightness and sense of freedom in your work that the photograph does not convey. It’s all about mood, I would argue. Nicely done!
