Back on the beautiful Côte d’Azur
Hi Everybody
We were only able to be in LesAdrets d’ Esterel for just a week this year but as ever we loved to be back in this very special part of the world for us.
We weren’t able to travel a lot due to my current mobility issues but that gave me the opportunity to paint some watercolours from my extensive library of Provence photos and previous sketch ideas.
So here are the watercolours that I did manage to paint which I hope you will enjoy.
Our house was not too far from Thoule sur Mer, a lovely but very busy town on the wonderful coast road from Cannes to St Maxime. This road is one the finest coastal roads with great views at every turn.
I am always keen to paint a new version of the wonderful town of Antibes and so here is the 2026 version in a somewhat different style from my usual but I hope still capturing the colours of this town so popular with both Renoir and Monet well over 100 years ago.
Lookng down on to St Tropez.
we flew to Nice for our holiday this year but I always love to think of the Provence hillside farms of previous car journies through the hills and mountains that you pass by.. lavender fields anf nowaday fields covered in wild flowers apper as if by magic as you whizz by.
Finally as a project I have been painting slightly more carefully produced paintings from the sketches made
This one was thus painted on our beautiful balcony which looked over the Bay of Cannes.
This is Agios Stephanos in Corfu, painted in the warmth of the Côte d ‘Azur!

Happy Travelling
Brian

I always enjoy your paintings. I particularly like the one of Antibes. It’s a real departure from your usual style but one that works really well.
